Frequently asked questions

Where are you based?

We currently operate from 3 locations. 2 in hertfordshire - one in Hemel Hempstead and the other in Watford and one in Bedfordshire - Houghton Regis

Can I watch the video again or is it just once?

Absolutely — the training video is available for you to rewatch as many times as you like. You’ll have unlimited access, so you can revisit it whenever you need a refresher or want to recap specific sections.

How do I get my certificate when I purchase an online course?

Once you’ve completed your course, you’ll be asked to submit a short video of yourself carrying out the treatment. This allows our trainers to assess your technique. After a successful review, your certificate will be posted to you.

Do I get a manual and kit with an online course?

Yes — we send out a full training kit and manual to accompany your course. For lash courses, this also includes a doll’s head so you can practise your technique. Everything is posted directly to you before you begin.

What are your online courses like?

Our online courses are designed to replicate a classroom experience. They’re filmed as though we’re teaching you face-to-face, with all the detailed information and demonstrations you’d receive in person.

What are perks of training with us?

When you train with us, you receive lifetime support. You’re welcome to reach out at any time for advice, guidance, or reassurance — even long after you’ve completed your course. We’re always learning new things ourselves through hands-on treatments, and we love passing that knowledge on to our students.

What do you receive in a training kit?

Each course comes with its own bespoke training kit, tailored to what you'll be learning. The full list of contents is outlined on each course page, as the items may vary depending on the treatment.

How long does it take to be qualified?

Our courses are typically completed in a single day. You’ll learn everything you need during your training session, allowing you to gain your qualification quickly and efficiently.

How long will it take me to get good?

Like anything, practice makes perfect. The more you practise your technique, the more confident and skilled you’ll become. We recommend working on another model soon after training while the knowledge is still fresh.

How soon can I perform the treatment myself after training?

You’ll be ready to start offering the treatment as soon as your training is complete. We do encourage practising on a model first to help build your confidence.

Can I get insured with your courses?

Yes — our courses are designed to meet the requirements of insurers, meaning you’ll be eligible to get insurance once qualified.

Will I be accredited?

Yes, all of our training courses are fully accredited, giving you peace of mind that your certification is recognised and respected within the industry.

Is it just the training dates on your website you offer?

Not at all. If you’re keen to train with us but the listed dates don’t work for you, simply get in touch. We’re happy to accommodate and try to arrange an alternative where possible.

Where do you train from?

Our main training location is our Hemel branch, but we also offer training from our Watford and Houghton branches on request. Just let us know your preferred location when booking.

Where can I have semi permanent makeup?
  • Semi-permanent makeup can be used to enhance the appearance of your:
    • Eyes – eyeliner
    • Eyebrows
    • Lips
What is semi permanent makeup?

Semi-permanent makeup is a cosmetic treatment designed to enhance your natural features by implanting pigment into the skin using a fine needle. It's commonly used to define brows, eyes, and lips with long-lasting results that reduce the need for daily makeup application.

What Brow Shaping techniques do you offer?

We offer a variety of professional eyebrow shaping methods including waxing, threading, and plucking. Our approach ensures your brows are shaped to suit your facial features and personal style.

What are HD Brows?

HD Brows is a bespoke eyebrow treatment tailored to each individual client. It includes a combination of shaping techniques such as waxing, threading, plucking, and tinting, followed by a custom-blended makeup application for a polished, high-definition finish.

What is the difference between Brow Tint & Henna Tint?
  • Brow Tint darkens only the brow hairs, helping to create a fuller appearance for around 1–2 weeks.
  • Henna Tint stains both the hair and skin, offering a more defined, filled-in look that lasts 1–2 weeks on the skin and up to 2–4 weeks on the hair.
  • What is Brow lamination?

Brow lamination is a treatment that helps to straighten and set brow hairs in place, giving a fuller, lifted, and more uniform appearance. It’s ideal for taming unruly brows or achieving that fluffy, brushed-up look.

I have had an allergic reaction before can I still have lashes?

Possibly, yes. We perform a patch test for all new clients and have a selection of adhesives available. If you’ve had sensitivities in the past, let us know and we’ll find the safest option for you.

I have sensitive eyes. Can I still have lash extensions?

Yes, absolutely. We use a specialised glue suitable for sensitive eyes. When lashes are applied correctly by a trained professional, even those with sensitivity can enjoy lash extensions comfortably.

My lashes are beginning to irritate me, what should I do?

If you're experiencing irritation, please get in touch with us right away. We’ll assess the cause and advise on the best solution to resolve the issue safely and quickly.

Can I have extensions applied to my bottom lashes?

We don’t usually recommend bottom lash extensions as they tend not to last very long. However, if it’s something you’re interested in, feel free to ask us for tailored advice.

Can I get a half set?

At The Lash Lounge, we don’t offer traditional half set appointments, as this isn’t really our style. Full sets provide better definition, volume, and longer-lasting results. Incomplete sets can be difficult to blend with your natural lashes, often leaving a look that appears unfinished.

However, we do offer a half classic lashes and half lash lift treatment, which is a great option if you’re looking for something more natural and subtle. It’s the perfect middle ground for those who want to enhance their lashes without going too full or dramatic.

Do I need to prep my lashes before I come in?

Yes, please arrive with clean lashes and no eye makeup. Use an oil-free cleanser before your appointment, as any traces of oil or mascara can interfere with the lash adhesive and reduce retention.

Can I come to you for an infill if you didn’t do my original set?

We only offer infills on sets done by our salon. If your lashes were done elsewhere, we’d recommend a removal followed by a fresh, full set applied by us.

    Who can have eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are suitable for everyone! Whether your lashes are short, sparse, fine, or curly, we’ll help you find a style that suits you perfectly.

What’s the difference between lash extensions and cluster lashes?
  • Lash extensions are applied individually to each natural lash, offering a more seamless and long-lasting finish.
  • Cluster lashes are applied in groups using strip lash glue and tend to be lower in quality. They typically last only a few days and aren’t recommended for long-term wear.
  • Will lashes ruin my natural lashes?

Not at all — when applied and removed correctly by a qualified technician, lash extensions won’t damage your natural lashes. In fact, many clients find their natural lashes remain healthy with proper care.

    What is an infill?

An infill is a maintenance appointment where we replace any lashes that have naturally shed. It’s typically done when you have at least 50% of your extensions remaining. We recommend booking infills every 2 to 4 weeks to keep your lashes looking fresh and full.

What is a Lash Lift & Tint?

A Lash Lift curls and lifts your natural lashes to make your eyes appear more open and lashes look longer. A tint is then added to darken the lashes for extra definition, giving the appearance of longer, fuller lashes without the need for mascara.

What are Mega Volume Russian Lashes?

Mega Volume lashes are ideal for those wanting a bold, dramatic look. Using the Russian lash technique, larger fans are created and applied to each natural lash. These sets use 6–12 fine lashes per natural lash to achieve maximum fullness and glamour.

    What are Russian volume lashes?

This method of lashes is perfect for people who want a more Glam look. Russian lashes are fine synthetic Lashes that are made from the same fibre as classic lashes, however because they are much thinner we are able to apply more lashes to each natural lash. Anything between 2 to 8 Lashes can be applied without them damaging your natural lashes or weighing them down.
Russian lashes are applied in a fan like shape which we make as we are with our clients. This technique gives you the most volume and because the lashes are so light weight they last up to 50% longer than individual lashes.

    What are Hybrid Lashes?

Hybrid lashes combine two techniques — classic individual lashes and Russian volume fans. They’re perfect for clients who want a fuller look without going too dramatic. This style is often used to mimic celebrity lash styles, offering both length and volume.

    What are Silk individual lashes?

Silk individual lashes are our most natural-looking option. Each silk lash is applied one by one to your natural lashes, enhancing what you already have. Keep in mind, if you have fewer natural lashes, the final result will be naturally more subtle.

    What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a semi-permanent way to add volume and definition to your natural lashes. They reduce the need for mascara and save you time in your morning routine. At The Lash Lounge, we offer four different styles to suit every look and budget.

What Brow Shaping techniques do you offer?

At the Lash Lounge we offer different types of eyebrow shaping. We can wax, thread or pluck your brows into shape.

We are proud to be Best lash and beauty salons in Hemel Hempstead, Watford, and Houghton Regis.
